The not-so-new kids on the block…

jen-and-dev

Before Christmas, we had a couple of news faces join the team. Except, they weren’t so new to DG. And even though Jen and Devon are like part of the furniture now, we thought we’d introduce you to our newest recruit(er)s…

We’re pretty lucky to have the girls as part of their team, both for their fantastic industry experience and knowledge, but also for their wacky humour, randomness and baked goods…

A few things about the guys;

Jen was at iris for almost 2 years as their specialist digital talent consultant and people person. Working alongside senior management, Jen played a big part in building the iris Digital team from 30 to 70+ it is today, as well as raising the office cholesterol levels with never ending cupcake supplies. Jen’s joined DG in a hybrid role – part specialist recruiter focussing on technical roles, and part office manager to keep things all ship-shape and help grow the business.

Loves - Cake, eating and making; talking, mostly about cake; singing in the shower; dancing around her bedroom; popping bubblewrap.

Dislikes - apathy; walking in wet shoes; peas in any format; cake haters.

Most famous for - her shoes; engineering inappropriate conversations on any level, with any one, at any moment;making random spontaneuous, subconscious noises; epic ‘Jen’ rants; cake.

Also an iris graduate, Devon has spent that last year fearlessly trafficking the Digital studio. Before that she whipped the people at LBi into shape. Devon’s joined the team to specialise in PMs and Client Services, and sure knows her stuff..

Likes - B movies;Vegemite; eating other peoples food; laughing at inappropriate things.

Dislikes - slow walkers;big egos; dinner-hoggers; choclate and fruit; chocolate and mint.

Most famous for - cycling – everywhere; walking into inanimate objects; being the only person laughing in an otherwise silent cinema; stumbling into inappropriate conversations; being inappropriate; wrestling a man-sized chicken

We’d like to welcome both Jen and Devon to the DG family. Make sure you say hi when you can…

…and not a minute too soon.

Just wanted to let you all know – and gloat slightly – that we’re now officially on school holidays! Yay!

Hopefully you’ll all be on holidays too, but if, in between the Christmas parties and raging hangovers, you do find yourself needing our assistance please email our emergency holiday hotline helpme@digitalgurus.co.uk – we’ll do our very best to be of assistance…

Digital Gurus have one more payrun next week on Christmas eve, and will be back and fully operational from 11th Jan 2010.

Thanks for all your help in making 2009 end on a high note. See you on the other side….

Munny well spent…

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Last Thursday saw us doing our bit for charity at the Christmas Glug event. Despite being depleted in numbers (a killer flu epidemic nearly brought DG to a standstill. Thank heavens for Roy’s impenetrable immune system – must be all the steak he eats…), it didn’t stop us from digging deep in our pockets and giving to Barnado’s in the Munny auction.

Having never taken part in a proper auction before it took us a while to get our heads into whole bidding malarkey but we were soon in the swing of things. Left to my own devices, I would have taken them all home, but the bidding was fierce and in the end we walked away with just 3 little Munnys.

Our new friends are now in pride of place on our wall along with the other, not quite so original, office mascots.

Munnys

It was great to see everyone getting stuck in and raising money for a great cause whilst having a good time. Thanks to everyone that came down, supped some mulled cider and did their bit for charity. The evening raised a whopping £4604 - good stuff!

See you in the New Year for some more Glug action….

London Digital Week is a week of conferences, workshops, meet-ups, presentations, networking, parties and exhibitions bringing together the digital-orientated industries in and around London under one umbrella event. 2009 marks the beginning of this annual festival, drawing in local and global industry leaders and mavericks to celebrate our talented innovators, thinkers and doers who have helped to put London firmly on the global digital map. The events aims to further the understanding of digital, to share knowledge within the industry and to showcase the best work of companies, groups and individuals in London and the UK to the rest of the world.

After our two recent successful additions to the DG familia we are looking for a couple more bright sparks to light up the place. We’re a people business, so tend to look after our flock and the right individual will have ample room to flourish and become an integral part of our exciting new team.

We know how to spot potential a mile off so if you come from a recruitment background but are bored of the stale salesy environment or perhaps you have just finished uni and are looking for some much needed career direction, we’d be interested in hearing from you…

We offer competitive basics and have an overly generous commission structure in place… so whether its paying your mortgage or paying off your loan this could definitely be something beautiful! Here at DG we are really keen to offer our staff career development and have some pretty cool offices in the heart of London…

If you are looking to learn some valuable life skills, whilst making some cool money and working in a quality environment… give us a shout…

Digitalgurus are proud to present the newest addition to the Digitalgurus team… Daniel Cassenti

Daniel comes with over 4 years experience within the digital field and has a rollerdex as long as your arm.. feel free to welcome Dan to our team at daniel@digitalgurus.co.uk or you could just hurl some abuse his way… whichever is more fun!

Dan is a keen footie player, having been semi pro for the likes of Watford and Stevenage… but lucky for us he pulled his “hamstring” and has been out of action ever since!! :)

A family man at heart with his Italian heritage and love for good food, Daniel is a very welcome part of the DG clan as we continue to grow and build upon our presence within the digital market!

Watch out for big things from Daniel in the coming months as I’m sure he will be making himself known to all…
