Move over Google the ‘Bing’ is here…

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Microsoft has revealed details of its new search engine, Bing, which it hopes will break Google’s dominance of the market.

The new service will begin to roll out in beta this weekend, and is planned to be fully operational worldwide by next Wednesday (3 June).

Bing is designed to help people find information in a quick and effective way, with an improved index making search results more relevant to the consumer’s needs.

The search engine will feature a regularly updated homepage, and will split its searches into categories, such as shopping, travel, news, maps and videos.

Ciao, the online shopping and comparison website that Microsoft purchased in October 2008, will be integrated into Bing, as well as the MSN shopping facility.

John Mangelaars, the vice-president, consumer and online at Microsoft EMEA, said: “We believe that search is still in its infancy and there is much more that people can and should expect from their search service.”

Augmented Reality… really really cool!

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

With the latest in digital technologies, I have been really intruiged by Augmented Reality recently… its the cross over between the real world and the virtual world and allows digital agencies a whole new method of engaging with the user. It’s where computer objects are blended into real footage and real time.

If this sounds confusing… it’s not really… take a look at one of the projects launched by mini recently and you’ll see what I’m so excited about…

T-Mobile - Karoake at its best…

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Last Thursday T-mobile were at it again… and if you are a T-mobile customer you would have recieved a text inviting you to join the masses down at Trafalgar Square if you wanted to be involved in their new ad? Nothing more was mentioned and it was down to you to go…

As it turns out… literally thousands of people turned up and realised that they were going to be having an almighty karoake session… belting out some big tunes such as ‘hit me baby one more time’ and ‘hey jude’…. it was really well organised and went down a storm, even the likes of American US popstar Pink turned up to join in and sing along with the rest… check out the full ad below… and if you turned up… see if you can spot your face… :)

Gillette Ad

I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who thought the original Gillette tv ad had some really poor production values and for the class of sportsmen they had representing them it really didn’t work. However they have tried again, and this one is definitely better… it re-unites Mr Woods, Federer and new guy Jeter (an american baseball player for those who are not familiar) and hats off to the guys that even though they are earning millions of pounds… they were able to take the mick out of themselves… check it out (sound ideally required).
